This is a list of 15 different methods for having students talk with each other, organized by most teacher preparation required to least teacher preparation required. For example, a typical “think-pair-share” is at the bottom of the list.
Why is this awesome?
The Cult of Pedagogy has been one of my favorite websites for quite some time. Jennifer does a fantastic job of identifying and explaining these strategies for teachers who may never have seen them used before. Furthermore, these strategies, for the most part (perhaps with the exception of activities like the “hot seat",” which you could use as a warm up- or just ensure you rotate through all students), will have all of your students talking instead of the usual 3-4 regular volunteers.
