Partner Identity Interview: Top Auxiliar de Conversación Resource

Bayard Nielsen, Auxiliares de Conversación . Org

An updated take on the “me bag” or “my bag” identity project for #tefl that will engage your students (infantil, primaria, ESO or bachillerato) as they find out about each other’s identities and cultures, all while speaking, listening and writing in English. This project involves all three modes of communication: interpretive, interpersonal and presentational.

Why is this awesome?

  1. Students think critically about 5 objects that represent their identity and culture

  2. Partners interview each other, practicing question words, the past tense, and asking follow-up questions. Partners then introduce each other to the class, talking about the products, practices and perspectives behind their interviewee’s important objects

  3. The project can be completed on paper or digitally (all templates are provided in Google Slides format), with options for students to expand on their work if they are interested

  4. 100% of the time is spent working in English

  5. 3 day project
