This Google Innovator project began with interviews of current and former auxiliares de conversación de inglés and other stakeholders which created these three driving questions:
How can we better prepare assistants for the classroom in an economical, convenient, and captivating way?
How can we use auxiliaries’ free time (especially during the summer) to prepare them?
How can we better supply auxiliaries with resources (adapted to what they need) that will help them be more effective in the classroom and beyond?
It was created by Bayard Nielsen, a former auxiliar de conversación in Zamora and Salamanca, Teach for America corps member, Google Trainer, MERIT educator, and award winning language Teacher with over 10 years of classroom teaching experience.
His projects using educational technology to transform language learning at the secondary level have been recognized with an ACTFL Global Engagement Award, Microsoft/KCI Innovation Award, Margot Stern Strom Innovation Award, and a Human Rights & International Justice Educator Grant.
